What would you play next?

Post by Betelgeuse » Tue Sep 11, 2007 10:07 am

I kinda wondered.. As shown with Lotr, a lot of peeps who used to be in Sunfall or are currrently still in one of the incarnations in SWG or WOW or somesuch, readily seek out Sunfall in any new online game that comes along.

But what game would you hope to see come along most should your current one end? Is there one type of MMO that is most liked by the mayority of Sunfallers?

For the sake of argument, we're not talking about actual future releases and we assume that any type of game chosen is of good quality, but what would you think of the following:

- High Fantasy yet with 'Standard setting'. Dragons, spells, dwarves, etc.

- Steampunk-y fantasy. Golems, guns and magic, etc. WoW, Xenogears, etc.

- Spacetrade/exploration/piracy. Like Freelancer and X:The Threat. But then MMO

- Scifi / Magic. SWG, Shadowrun, etc.

- Nonmagic empirebuilding. perhaps Civ? Age of empires?

- Enterprise-driven. Like RR tycoon or Transport Tycoon

What aspect drives you most to play a new MMO? What is your favorite part?
Ooking you in the dooker since 1977.

Player cities. Not just player housing but player cities. As long as that element is there and the game has a solid playing mechanic, with some depth (solid crafting/economy, NOT the WoW style of "gather-materials-press-button-repeat") then tbh I don't care if the game is set in High Fantasy, Science Fiction, or the West Midlands.

One good MMORPG that could change the things around is Age of Conan by Funcom.

Mature themes, blood, violence, gore, and a good real time combat system, at least a good incarnation of what Howard meant in his books.

New generation engine, should works fine with Direct X 10, even with 9 of course... but I wonder what machine we will need

Should be almost in beta test now.

Ah yes, the possibility to create cities with several players, and to decide the laws of the city is intriguing, also Guilds can do their castle and attack those of other guilds... or defend them - and I heard that to build one castle guild is not automatic, all guildmates have to work in several fields to begin and complete the building.

So... a Sunfall guild there could be a good attempt ;)

Between Destruction and Creation I chose the second, with all the pros and cons.

Lol no when I say women I mean women not men. You got two right though, yes preferrably overweight and 40 something is awesome. There should also be girls dressed up as japanese schoolgirls, I leave them for you :-) I bet there are a lot of japanese schoolgirls playing WoW even. But this new XXXMMORPG will be a lot more fun!

I completely agree, too many games have the crafting copied from WoW and such, and no player housing means im not playing the game.

LOTRO screwed up here imho, the game had potential but they kept delaying player housing... something they should have had at launch!

I was eagerly awaiting Pirates too, we'll see though. My wife is against me playing mmo's and I doubt I'll have time anyway.
